Last week was Inspirathon 2022. We spent 6 days with an awesome group of Human Value Explorers, Entrepreneurs and Corporate Warriors, all looking for something to move them forward. Over 400 people registered for the event. Around a hundred joined the groups and around half of them joined for at least one session.
But only around 20 people showed up consistently, actively participated, and completed the tasks we gave them.
Why am I telling you this?
Because success leaves clues. Of those who turned up and stepped up consistently:
How much more do you think those people will take away from Inspirathon than the ones who sat on the sidelines and watched? How much more inspired were they to jump into the Smart-Up 60-Days Program and continue to be personally challenged to continue their journey of growth and transformation?
According to the figures, about 600 percent more inspired! Why?
Because there’s a huge difference between hearing or reading something and intellectually acknowledging the truth of it–only to let it slip from your memory and lose it–and fully absorbing it by putting it into action.
Science shows us that we forget 70 percent of unreinforced information within 24 hours, and over 90 percent within a week. Meaning if you don’t put what you learn into practice, you are wasting 90 percent of your time spent learning.
That’s the crux of what weinvolve is all about. We use psychology, project-based and problem-based experiential learning, and student-centered learning techniques to hyper-integrate activity into everything we do to accelerate learning and optimize absorption and retention.
When we think about inspiration, we tend to think of the bolt-of-lightning sudden and brilliant idea that ‘just comes to you.’
But that’s only one meaning of inspiration. There’s another.
“The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.”
Inspiration isn’t a flash of brilliance that comes from nowhere, even when it feels that way.
It’s the result of a process of stimulation that feeds creativity. It’s the result of flexing your creativity muscles daily, cultivating a ‘can do’ attitude, and developing a habit of figuring things out. The good news is that with a few simple mental adjustments and easy-to-adopt habits, you can train yourself to be creative and tap into inspiration at will.
And THAT’s what Inspirathon, and the follow-on Smart-Up 60 Days Program are all about.
Inspirathon is a carefully constructed journey that leads participants through a process designed to Inspire them to take action and take the first step on their journey of transformation, exposing them to the Me2We Transformation Framework through working on a live project together.
For those who give themselves fully to the process and are inspired, the Smart-Up Program is the natural next step, the opportunity to take what they have learned and cement it by working on a personal or business project of their own, yet still tapping into collective intelligence and creativity in a group mentoring setting.
The Smart-Up Program builds on the Inspirathon experience with 3 weeks in the Hacking Me phase, where we look at participants’ strengths, habits, and routines, and instill productivity into their lives so that they can make the most of the following weeks.
The rest of the time is spent learning Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design through work on a project of the participants’ choosing. We cover ethnographic research and conduct interviews to gather data and learn how to analyze and sort the data to come up with sacrificial concepts and early prototypes. and iterate to minimum viable product offerings, and practice sales.
Of course, all of this is done in weinvolve style, with a blend of group learning and activity and personalized challenges designed to prompt personal, career, and business growth, depending on the individual’s stated goals.
I know you will do all those things because the challenge is designed to stimulate action the same way Inspirathon is. It’s designed to set you up for success by laying a foundation of personal productivity on which you can build your relationships, career, and business.
Alexandre, for instance, joined the Smart-Up Progrm after losing his job during the pandemic. He wanted to find a new, better job, and start a side business at the same time. He did both, landing his dream job and his first paying clients during the 60 days. So yes, anything is possible, you just have to start, and figure it out.
Although the Smart-Up Program is very much positivity and strengths oriented, it’s only fair to warn you it’s not for everyone. We hack our students to help them move forward by challenging them to break past what’s blocking them. And challenging blockages can be uncomfortable.
